Eurostar Cancellation Policy & Refunds

Eurostar is a high-speed rail service that connects the United Kingdoms to Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Most of their trains travel through channel tunnels.

The company Eurostar can be traced back to 1986 when the rail tunnel started from Britain to France.

Eurostar Cancellation Policy

The railways connect London to Amsterdam, Brussels, Disneyland Paris, Avignon, Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Fréthun, Marseille, Paris, Lille, Lyon, and Rotterdam. A lot of customers buy tickets from Eurostar to have a convenient journey.

Their cancellation and refund policy is also quite simple and accessible. Here are the details about it.

Eurostar Cancellation and Refund Policy:

The cancellation and refund policy is pretty easy to access. If you have to cancel your trip due to uncontrollable reasons, the company allows you to cancel your bookings. You can also change the ticket for another suitable day. And depending on the conditions, you can get a refund as well.

The bookings are made in three consecutive ways. There are three ticket classes that Eurostar provides. Passengers should check before cancellation or exchange whether they are applicable for a refund.

In case of delay in services, the company offers compensation as follows:

Delayed time Refund
Delays of 60-119 minutes  25% refund of the affected leg of the journey.
Delays of 120-179 minutes 50% refund of the affected leg of the journey.
Delays of over 180 minutes 50% refund of the affected leg of the journey

Standard and standard premium tickets:

These tickets do not need cancellation. They are exchangeable but non-refundable. The exchanged ticket can be provided before the departure of the train.

However, you might have to pay an exchange fee (£30 for Standard, £40 for Standard Premier) or any difference. But if the ticket is less costly, you never get a refund.

Business Premiere Ticket:

Eurostar offers another class of tickets that is the Business premiere tickets. These allow you to exchange or cancel the trip and get a refund up to 60 days after the departure.

However, this policy is not applicable on the Netherlands route. These tickets to Rotterdam Central or Amsterdam are flexible till the scheduled departure. After that, you are not allowed to get an exchange or refund.

Bottom line:

The exchange policy is available for all three types of tickets. However, one thing must be remembered is that the standard premiere tickets are non-refundable.

Moreover, if you exchange the ticket with any higher value, the difference is to be paid by you. Also, the new exchange ticket should be on the same route.

That is not the case with the Business premiere tickets. They are exchangeable and 100% refundable before or 60 days of the scheduled departure.

All you need to do to access the refund is to log in to the Eurostar website and click on the ‘Manage booking’ section. Then after putting your booking reference, you need to select the ‘change journey option’ and then follow the next set.

The refund is generally credited within five working days.
